A fall vacation in the northwoods has always been one of my favorites. Good fishing and fall colors bring it all together. I'm heading north to Boulder Junction Wisconsin in mid October with my daughter Lisa.
One thing that we'll enjoy when where not throwing musky plugs is a day of fun and celebration of the season with food and games in town.
Harvest Fest in Boulder Junction is set for Saturday, October 12, 2013 from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Kids can take a hayride through town while stopping at local businesses to test their skills at various games.
Adults can enjoy the fun too! Collect receipts from your purchases and bring them to “ Shop the Haystack” for a chance to win prizes and gift certificates. Games and treats can be found in many of the stores, be sure to pick up a map to show you where to find the fun. Join “Granny Autumn” as she leads the kids down the bike trail for a costume parade. You can purchase a home baked treat at the North Lakeland 4th Grade Class Harvest Bake Sale, bite into a fresh hand-dipped caramel apple, enjoy a bowl of chili or a hot dog served by the Boulder Junction Lioness. Wait a minute... If the chili is as good as that served at the February Frozen Tozen in Boulder Junction, I'm in!
Most likely Lisa and I will pick up some fall décor at the Farmers’ Market for my wife Judy. We'll check out the treasures that can be found at the Boulder Junction Historical Society Rummage Sale and visit the Historical Museum while we’re there.
I hope to run into you in Boulder Junction on Saturday, October 12, 2013. For more information visit the chamber's website at www.boulderjct.org or call 1-800-GO-MUSKY.
