Deer hunters are always talking about how many deer they see during the hunting season, or the lack of deer. Well, Illinois Deer Hunters, now is your chance to voice your opinion on the Illinois deer herd. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources has been conducting a study that will help them manage the deer herd in the future. This could mean adjustments to the seasons, quotas and harvest regulations, but the goal is to maintain a healthy population of Whitetail Deer. Illinois residents can take an online survey that will help provide the State with valuable data to help them strategically plan their deer herd management techniques.
As part of this initiative, the IDNR also scheduled a series of open houses in June where the public could ask questions and receive information about Illinois' deer herd. The material is now available online for those who could not attend these meetings.
Kudos to the State DNR for giving us the chance to be part of the management of this awesome resource. Remember, deer hunting is a privilege, not a right!
