Something that always seems to make its way into the frying pan for shore lunches or cooking wild game or fish are onions.
Chef Jimmy Dean Van Rossum of the Guide's Inn joined me in taping a nice TV show on cooking walleye. While taping he provided me with a quick tip that shows us how to dice onions easily. No tears, no mess and evenly chopped onions. This didn't make it into the TV show as there just wasn't time, but I feel it's worth sharing with you.
I tried it and it works.
Although Chef Jimmy Dean makes this all look easy in the three videos that I've shared with you, it does make cooking fun. When on your next vacation to the Northwoods keep a few of those eater sized walleyes and enjoy them with one of Jimmy Dean's ways of cooking. But let's not forget that a vacation is not a vacation if you have to spend time cooking and cleaning up afterwards. Let Jimmy Dean do the cooking for you.
