Calling all Catfishermen (and women)

Calling all Catfishermen (and women)

What's always fun is getting out on Shabbona Lake, be it from a boat or fishing off the banks.  Coming next week, on Saturday, August 18th anyone fishing the lake can participate in their Catfish Open.

The Catfish will be King for the Day!

Concock your best stink bait, brew up your best chicken liver receipt and put on a hook and head for Shabbona Lake.  The catfish have been very active this warm summer and they have provided many a battle for any angler, young or old.

Shabbona Lake's record Catfish is a whopping 22.75 Pounds caught August 7, 2010, by Dave Todd on Chicken Liver.

The catfish open is also a family event !   You can combine your family's best catfish to weigh in your six fish limit.  Weigh in is at Lakeside Bait, Tackle & Boat Rental which will be open from 6 AM and closes at 7 PM.
