Holiday started out with a big bass caught

Fred works at the fly fishing department at the Bass Pro Shop in Bolingbrook.

There's no doubt that Fred practices what he preaches.  Like so many of the guy at Bass Pro Shops, Fred fishes and knows what he's talking about.  You won't find that at Walmart.

Fred got out on the 4th and caught a nice bass.  Here's what he said and you can see the photos here.

Look what I got around 9:00 am this morning.  I've christened this my "FIRECRACKER BASS" in honor of the July 4th holiday.  This fish measured 20.5" in length, which is my personal best on a fly rod.  I was fishing with Tom Maronic our fly tying instructor, and we were at a pond not far from the Bass Pro.

I called Tommy, our tying instructor, and told him I want him in the boat with me next time I go for muskies on the fly.  See, Tommy was fishing with me earlier this year when I got a 15" crappie on the fly.  That crappie was my all time personal best!  That crappie also came from the same pond as this bass.

Tommy took the pics!  Glad I did not have to be at work today!  Later.
