It was two years ago when I visited the Northand Tackle booth at the ICAST Show in LasVegas. This is one of the largest trade shows in the country and everything... EVERYTHING in fishing tackle is there.
The featured product for Northland Tackle was their Live Forage line of products. I was impressed.
But at the ICAST show, besides tackle are also many of the best anglers in the world. I got to talk to a few and the topic of the new Live Forage design often came up. Everyone loved it.
I have an assortment of the Live Forage baits and I can attest to the fact that they are different and that they work. I really love using rattling baits when I fish so many of the lakes and rivers here in Illinois and throughout the country.
I have not yet fished or even held on to one of these new Rippin' Shad baits, but I wish I did. I'm leaving in a few days to do some ice fishing up north. In so many lakes, perch are the main forage. This one would be a killer bait up there.
I co-host the Fishing and Outdoor Radio show and now Northland Tackle is one of my sponsors. I just received this press release that they recently distributed along with a photo of the new Rippin' Shad. What do you think? Can anything look more realistic than this?
Bait Destined for the “Rattle and Ice-Troll” Hall of Fame
So lifelike in sight, sound and swim, the LIVE-FORAGE® RIPPIN’ SHAD is a clear-cut inductee
LIVE-FORAGE® RIPPIN’ SHAD
Enter the LIVE-FORAGE® RIPPIN’ SHAD, the newest addition to Northland’s LIVE-FORAGE® ReplicaSeries™ line of products. The RIPPIN’ SHADis a lipless rattle bait that combines lifelike HD Fish-Photo-Image™ patterns and shad profile with the super-sonic vibration produced by clacking internal rattles. And trust us, it won’t take you long to know that this lure’s on a roll!
“The LIVE-FORAGE® RIPPIN’ SHAD’S finish is exclusive, like no other lipless hardbait out there,” says Northland Fishing Tackle founder John Peterson. “Loud internal rattle, sonic vibration, and an erratic darting action force fish to come in and investigate. And there’s a size made for every type of fish and technique on the ice. They work wonders vertically jigging for lunker lake trout, ultra aggressive slab crappies, even deadsticking for walleyes that are attracted to the lure’s authentic silhouette.”
When tied to a premium monofilament, such as Northland’s BIONIC™ fishing line, the vibration of the RIPPIN’ SHAD is so veracious, it not only transmits through the rod and can be felt right through your bones on the ice, but can literally be heard through the crisp winter air. And if anglers are able to pick-up on the ruckus, just imagine the attention-grabbing vibrations heard and felt through the lateral line of hungry predator fish!
Standing above the hole, the lure’s radical performance is best maximized by literally “Ripping It!” in short upward bursts. As a result, the bait violently vibrates and rattles in a tight tremor, mimicking a fleeing baitfish. Let the RIPPIN’ SHAD fall on a slack line and its sweet-serpentine-swim takes it on a random path, going in a different direction every time – traveling down & outward in an lazy “S” pattern, away from the center of the hole . And it’s that very unpredictable descent that turns fish into natural born killers.
Available in 1-1/2”, 2”, and 2-1-/2” lengths, the LIVE-FORAGE® RIPPIN’ SHAD is hatched in eight lifelike patterns, three in phosphorescent glowing colors for added attraction in stained water and during lowlight periods. Premium VMC® Cone Cut Hooks make the bait even that much more menacing.
