From Steve Welch...
The crappie fishing on Lake Shelbyville is still red hot.
We have been limiting out every day and in only a few hours. We are vertically fishing over down trees or brush in the 12-16 foot range with my 1/4oz. Deep Ledge Jigs and a Midsouth tube in some white or chartreuse color. No need for bait since they are just hammering the jigs. We are also using the biggest baits I have in my arsenal right now. The shad in the lake are big so the big fish want something big. We are using baits from just over two-inches on up to three and a half. The biggest tubes we have almost bass tubes.
The water temps are bouncing around the 46 degree range and the crappie know winter is coming so the feed bag is on. They are biting all over the lake so many patterns are working.
Crappie love colder water temps and bite very well right on through the winter.
