2012 Calendar Pin-Ups: Boulder Junction Fishing Guides

2012 Calendar Pin-Ups: Boulder Junction Fishing Guides

I'll be heading back north to Boulder Junction in early October.  It's the Musky Capital of the World and I'm going musky fishing.  My daughter Lisa is joining me on this trip.  It will be the first time that she'll be up there since she was a toddler.  She's anxious to see the place that I enjoy visiting as often as I do.

On my last trip up north Bob Bertch of Bob's Manitowish Guide Service told me about the photo shoot for the Boulder Junction 2012 Pin-Up Calendar.  I've got to get one and I will when I'm up there in October.

2012 calendars are available now.  See their press release to learn how to get yours.

Fun, funky ‘REEL Men of Boulder Junction’ calendars on sale now

August 22, 2011 (Boulder Junction, WI)—Expert musky fishermen. Hall of fame guides. Calendar boys?

The 2012 REEL Men of Boulder Junction Calendar, which features ten area fishing guides clowning around for the camera, went on sale during the Musky Jamboree festival last weekend.

“We want to give people something to remember Boulder Junction by all year long,” said Theresa Smith, Executive Director of the Boulder Junction Chamber. “We think the REEL Men of Boulder Junction Calendar is a fantastic gift for anglers and for anyone who enjoys the Northwoods culture.”

While most Northwoods calendars feature scenic shots (shimmering sunsets, tall pines and pristine lakes), the Boulder calendar is different. For one thing, it’s funny.

“Our guides love Boulder Junction,” Smith said. “They’re an incredibly valuable resource for our community. And while we could have shot them in their element, on the water doing what they love best, we asked them to come out of their comfort zones for this shoot. They came through in a big way and the calendar is worth a lot of laughs.”

Featuring a different guide (or group of guides) in every shot, each month includes a humorous portrait and a brief biography. In one shot, “Mr. December” (Bob Bertch of Bob’s Manitowish Guide Service) poses as Santa Claus. Guide Harry Reid got in touch with his inner leprechaun for the March image.

"I had a great time signing autographs and talking with people about the calendars at the Musky Jamboree,” said Erv Keller of Erv Keller’s Guide Service. “I believe they really enjoyed having their calendars autographed by the guides. Many asked if this will be an annual project and I hope that it will be."

The REEL Men of Boulder Junction calendar is on sale now. You can order your own copy by visiting the Chamber office in Boulder Junction, by calling 1-800-GO-MUSKY or by sending an e-mail to boulderjct@boulderjct.org. Calendars are $10 each.
