Classic Folk Rock Duo Rocks the Strip...
BrewerBrewer & Shipley, one of the most successful folk rock acts of the 1970s, will play a free concert at 8 p.m. during the Friday, Aug. 12 edition of the Hot Summer Nights event on the Bagnell Dam Strip in Lake Ozark. Although best known for their Billboard Magazine Top 10 signature song, "One Toke Over the Line," Michael Brewer and Tom Shipley landed two other singles ("Tarkio Road" and "Shake Off the Demon") on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and worked with musical legends such as Mike Bloomfield, Leon Russell, Jimmy Messina and the late Jerry Garcia of The Grateful Dead. Hot Summer Nights is a street festival and car cruising series that takes place on the Bagnell Dam Strip and runs from May to September on the second Friday of each month. Remaining Hot Summer Nights dates are July 8, Aug. 12 and Sept. 9. For more information on the concert or on Hot Summer Nights, visit the event's website, Facebook page or call 573-964-1008.

Uncork and Unwind...
MO Wine FestivalThe 18th Annual Missouri Wine Festival gets better with age and this year's celebration is no exception. Featuring wineries and restaurants from throughout the region, this year's festival also will include microbreweries. The event is set for Aug. 6 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Country Club Hotel & Spa in Lake Ozark. "It seemed like a natural pairing to have microbreweries in addition to the various wineries and restaurants that will be on hand offering samples," says Michelle Cook, Director of Marketing for the Lake Area Chamber of Commerce. "This addition will appeal to another type of connoisseur, as well as the many wine lovers who attend annually. You would be amazed at the number of microbreweries and wineries in the Midwest region and we love bringing them all together in a central location so everyone can enjoy them."  Admission to the Wine Festival is $15 per person, which includes tastings from all of the booths and a commissioned souvenir wine glass. Wine is available for purchase by the bottle or case. Hotel packages at the Country Club Hotel are also available beginning at $89. For more information, call 573-964-1008 or visit the Chamber's events and festivals website here. To book a hotel package at the Country Club Hotel & Spa, call 800-964-6698.

Drop the Ducks...
Bagnell Dam Duck DropRubber duckies make summertime lots of fun. Why? Because the popular bath toys provide a chance to win $5,000 cash or one of 12 other fantastic prizes Aug. 13 at the 3rd Annual Great Bagnell Dam Duck Drop, presented by The Ozark Coast Kiwanis and Lake Area Chamber of Commerce. In this distinctive event below Bagnell Dam, spectators "adopt a duck" (purchase numbered tickets) and then thousands of rubber ducks (with numbers corresponding to tickets) are unleashed from the air to splash down into the Osage River. The ducks then race to the finish line to earn patrons prizes. The actual Duck Drop is scheduled for 3 p.m., but festivities take place throughout the day. The celebration begins at 8 a.m. with a spec-quack-ular 5K Family Fun Run and Waddle/Walk. The event also boasts a Family Fun Zone with clowns, kids' games, bounce houses, puppet shows and a variety of delicious food for sale. Those interested in adopting their own rubber duck (or multiple ducks) can do so at the following locations: Paul's Supermarket, Central Bank Lake of the Ozarks (Lake Ozark and Osage Beach locations only), Hy-Vee, Bank Star One (Hy-Vee or Rt. HH locations) and the Willmore Lodge Visitor Center. For more information, visit the event's website or call 573-964-1008.
