A Great fishing vacation destination for the whole family

This week I've been up in the Northwoods of Wisconsin.  I'm staying at the Angler's Isle Resort www,AnglersIsle.com .

Joining me is my nephew Jerod from Homer Glen.   He's loving this resort.  We're deep in the woods, right on the banks of Mamie Lake which is part of the Cisco Chain, and only minutes away from the town of Land O Lakes.

The fishing has been good up here all week.  Although a big cold front moved in, we were still able to do well in the fishing department.

Yesterday, I took Jerod and his dad Phil out and we search for some smallmouth bass.  We did pretty well.

When we started, we were using light jigs and twister tails.  The action was slow.  But after a short while, I decided to tie on a heavier 3/8 ounce jig and add a cray colored Berkley Chigger Craw.  That was the ticket.   We needed to get the jigs down on the bottom and keep them there as they were dragged from near the banks to deeper water.

All in all we got 21 smallmouth bass.   No monster bass made it to the boat.  All the fish were from 12 to 15 inches.  I'm sure the recent front kept the big boys in the inactive mode but that didn't matter.  Both my nephew and his dad had a great time  On a couple other days we did well catching more bass and some walleye.  We moved around a lot and I beleive that this definately added to our success.  The Cisco Chain has 15 lakes and you can always find a lake that is producing some nice fish.

Consider a fishing vacation for the family.  Let the kids have some fun catching fish.  And bringing them to a place like Angler's Isle and the Cisco Chain gives them the opportunity to catch some decent fish.  This I'm sure will get them hooked on fishing and the outdoors.
