I received an email and some photos from John Bartgen, Head Bass Fishing Coach, Victor J Andrew H.S. regarding one of the High School bass fishing tournaments, their Classic. Let me share it with you here on the blog. The kids from all of these school work hard at what they're doing and need your support. The future of fishing lies in their hands.
Good Job guys, our hats are off to the Andrew team and to Brian Jackson from Stagg H.S. for winning Angler of the Year.
Here's Coach Bartgen's email...
Hello, Attached are pictures and results from the District 230 Bass Classic Series held on May 21st at the DesPlaines Conservation Area. This tournament was the third in its series and served as the Championship round.
Overall, it was a solid day of fishing with 11 of 14 boats weighing in fish, 4 of which had a limit of 5 fish. Although the day started with a 75% chance of serve thunderstorms and high winds, which would have been par for our season given the rough weather we faced all year, the fish gods finally decided to grant us our first and only nice day of weather with temps in the upper 60s, 10-15mph winds, and with the exception of a few, but brief showers, the day was perfect. It was nice to see fish caught!!!
All the kids did a great job. Andrew High School, boat 12, took 1st place winning the Classic Championship with 5 fish totaling 9.20lbs and had big bass weighing in at 2.63lbs, caught by Anthony Leno. Fishing in boat 12 was Jeremy Bilecki, Anthony Leno, and Richie Wren. Boat 12 was coached by Coach John Bartgen.
Stagg H.S., coached by Brian Jackson, won Angler of the Year by having the most consistent fishing throughout all three tournaments. There is a pic of his crew attached as well.
Please let me know if there is any other information you may want regarding our Classic.
