Lake Barkley is the Crappie Capitol of the World

I heard about it.  I wanted to find out for myself.  At the spring AGLOW Cast and Blast I got to fish for Crappies at Lake Barley and found out, it is the Crappie Capitol of the World.

I fished with Steve Freeman, a local angler and Heather Brosdahl who was representing Frabill at the Cast and Blast.   We all did pretty well in catching some real nice crappies on 12 foot rods and an inch and a half tube on a jig.

We vertically jigged over stake beds in about 10 feet of water.  As as you can see by the photos below, we had a pretty good morning on the water.

We along with a number of other outdoor writers and corporate sponsors brought in our fish for a nice crappie lunch.  The gals at Eddy Creek did a great job cooking them up for us.

We fish just outside of the bay by Eddy Creek Marina Resort.  For informaion on lodging visit www.EddyCreek.com  .   For information on the Lake Barkley area, visit www.LakeBarkley.org.
