IMTT Fall Classic Results

This came in from the Illinois Muskie Tournament Trail...

Veach Knows Shelbyville Muskie

Two weeks ago Andy Veach and his partner John Phillips were the only team to capture measurable muskie at the Lake Shelbyville Muskie Club tournament, held on Lake Shelbyville. They got three of them, while all other teams were shut out.  This week at the IMTT Fall Classic, again on Lake Shelbyville, Andy Veach fished as a single, against twenty-four other two-man teams. He landed one fish on Saturday, and with about twenty minutes of fishing time left, he got his second muskie on Sunday, to pull out first place again. An impressive performance.

The weekend featured wet, colder, windy, and changing weather, but the determined IMTT muskie fisherman were able to coax ten muskie into their nets. Five each day.Five of the ten fish caught were 39 inches or better. All were released back into the lake healthy and active. Things look promising for future muskie catches on Lake Shelbyville.

The following were the place winners.

            1st - Andy Veach ( 30.5", 38")
            2nd - Randy Hilger and Kyle Hilger ( 30", 30.5" )
            3rd - John Forsyth ( 44") and Don Forsyth
            4th - Robert Taylor ( 40" ) and Keith Johnson

Others cathching muskie wwere:

·         Tony Carswell ( 39.5" )
·         James Pustz ( 39.5" )
·         Duane Landmeier ( 39" )
·         Robert Kerans ( 31" )

The IMTT opted for larger entry fees this year, hoping for larger prizes to attract more fishermen, and more dollars to aid the Illinois fishery. The changes have apparently. worked well . To date, the IMTT has paid out for $6500 in prizes, while contributing over $3000 to Illinois fisher needs. This week, thanks to canned food donations by participants, they were also able to donate over $300 in canned food to the Shelbyville Food Pantry.  If these trends continue, the IMTT will be able to offer over $3500 in prize awards at their Sate Tournament in November.
