Kankakee Fishing report from Ed Mullady

Ed sent me a detailed fishing report from the Kankakee River.   Looks like the smallmouth bass are doing pretty good...

 Hi! Today's Report:

Bluegill good in quieter river waters on jumbo red worms, small spinners, small minnows.
Largemouth Bass also good in various quieter waters on plastic worms, minnows, artificial frogs, crawfish, top water baits.
LaSalle F&W Area: Shorelines,ditch mouths for pike on 4" to 7" minnows, Weedless Doctor Spoons, Mepps #5 spinner.
Dave Zack, of the Momence Conservancy, reports many smallmouth and largemouth bass from IN State Line to Momence on minnows, imitation helgramites,crawfish, frogs.
Kankakee Area: River guide Matt Mullady and his clients have been catching nice smallmouth bass on Rattlin' Rogue, imitation helgramites, crawfish.
While fishing for smallies, Matt had an 8 lb. catfish grab an imitation helgramite and put up a real battle. State Park: Smallmouth Bass good on #2,#3 Mepps Spinners, jointed plugs, live minnows, crawfish.Try at Christine, Kiley and Jen Islands along shorelines.
Wilmington Dam downstream. Good on smallmouth bass around Island Park and in river at Des Plaines Area. *Spinners, *Crawfish(live or imitation)*crankbaits good.
