I just received the preliminary Harvest Updates from the IL DNR's Turkey Program Manager Paul Shelton
The South Zone second season concluded April 15 with a second-season total harvest of 1497 birds, bringing the harvest after two seasons to 3134. The previous record after 2 seasons was 2823 birds in 2006. Last year's comparable harvest was 2693. Top five counties to date are Pope (188), Jefferson (177), Randolph (169), Union (166), and Jackson (162). A table of preliminary county harvests is attached.
Hunters harvested 2752 turkeys in the North Zone's first season (ending 4-16-2010), compared to last year's first season harvest of 2248. This is the highest first season harvest since 2864 birds were taken in 2002. Top five counties are JoDaviess (197), Pike (158), Fulton (139), Adams (127), and Schuyler (105). County harvest results are attached.
