Satruday night, four individuals with decades of dedicated commitment to promoting outdoor recreation and stewardship have been selected for induction into the Illinois Outdoor Hall of Fame, a program of the Illinois Conservation Foundation.

Alfred Hayden, John "Jack" Jadel, Denny Sands, and Mary Jo Trimble have been selected from among dozens of nominees for the Illinois Outdoor Hall of Fame submitted by citizens from throughout Illinois.  They will be inducted during ceremonies at the annual Illinois Outdoor Hall of Fame Banquet, to be held on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at the Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles, Illinois.

I was there along with Jim DaRosa, Ray Ludkevicz, Roger Wright, and Jeff Novak and our wives.  It was a fun evening with all the silent and live auctions.  With the auctions combined, there were items as small as a single duck call to an African Safari, a Tracker Boat with Mercury Outboard motor, a Club Car XRT 950 utility vehicle.  They also auctioned off a four Remington 1100 Sporting Series Shotguns, His and Hers Trek Hybrid bicycles, golf, fishing, and hunting trips, several with lodging and meals.

For live auction I have donated a guided fishing trip in southern Illinois with Jason Johns of Todd Gessner Outdoors that includes food, lodging, the guided fishing trip.  Thanks to the Rend Lake Resort this was all possible.  The auction winner will also be a guest on the Illinois Outdoors TV Show.

I am so proud to say that the Trip was won by Sandy Allen of Edwardsville.  She had the top bid of $925.00 which will all go the the Illinois Conservation foundation.

Proceeds from the annual Illinois Outdoor Hall of Fame Banquet assist in funding the ICF Youth Achievement Scholarship program.  Proceeds from the banquet also support other ICF initiatives benefitting outdoor recreation and natural resources protection.
