I got to jump into Rich Komar's boat today and buzz around LaSalle Lake. It just opened yesterday.
Fishing was pretty good. Largmouth, Smallmouth, and Hybrid Stripers made it into the boat. One thing though is that it was breezy out there. Boat control was a bit difficult. From that respect, it was kind of fun being in the back of the boat for a change.
War Eagle Spinnerbaits worked well, white ones. Rich got the biggest striper on a gold Clatter Bait.
Cat Mat Jones was on the lake yesterday. He slaudered the blue cats with the biggest being 26 pounds. He got several in the 20s, several in the teens and a whole bunch from 2 lbs and up to 10.
Rich Partak was also out on opening day but he got a late start. He too did well on stripers and bass.
On Wednesday the lake was mobbed. Today, not bad at all. Too bad we'll be getting some snow on the weekend. Would be a good time to get out there.
Water Temps.. 63 by the ramps... 92 in the chute by the discharge. I image that it would be even hotter closer to the buoy line.
