As dozens of on-lookers shaded their eyes and looked to the skies, a courageous daredevil leaped from a helicopter high above majestic Aspen Mountain and floated down softly, landing on the street corner in front of Wagner Park, thus marking the beginning of Fashion Week in Aspen.
Within seconds of his landing, a shiny black Bentley convertible (with red wheels and the top down) pulled up to that street corner, capturing everyone's attention.
Dance music echoed up and down Durant St. from the Skea Runway Show which took place outdoors on the "Snowstage" in front of fans, designers, and ski-lovers. Shapely models did their best to make these outdoor fashions appealing in front of fashionistas from across the country who came to Aspen for this exclusive 4-day event. Many Chicagoan's were seen in the crowd.
As the models paraded up and down the sunny outdoor catwalk, cocktail waitresses generously offered the hungry crowd cheeseburgers, gourmet french fries, cuisine kale, and frosty chocolate and vanilla milkshakes . I'm sure I gained at least 4 lbs that day.
Following Skea's wonderful show were the colorful designs of Pajar Canada which began at 4:00 and kept the crowd entertained until the eye-opening show of Neve creations started.
Later in the evening, an AFW Welcome Stoli Vodka and Milagro Tequila Cocktail Party at the Chateau inside the elegant St. Regis Hotel preceded the innovative CrOp by the David Peck Runway show.
Concluding the evening was the ISORA Fashion Presentation (also at the St. Regis).
With talented, upcoming designers such as these, Aspen will be turning heads for years to come.
