This spring some of my neighbors' zeal for gardening didn't quite resurface and I was lucky enough to inherit their neglected beds.
In all, I picked up a larger rectangular bed and a smaller square bed.
I wasn't quite sure what I would plant in the larger one until a friend had an overabundance of tomato plants. Then someone else gave me some sweet potato plants.
I stuck them in close proximity to one another mostly because there was no other place to put them. I wasn't even sure if they were compatible to be near each other. At that point I didn't care. I just needed to get them in the ground and growing.
Apparently tomatoes and sweet potatoes like each other.
