I got the news last week.
After an essay submission and an audition, I made the 2015 Chicago cast of Listen To Your Mother (LTYM). I'm beyond excited to follow in the footsteps of several other ChicagoNow bloggers who are also LTYM alumnae.
What exactly is Listen To Your Mother?
"The mission of each LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER production is to take the audience on a well-crafted journey that celebrates and validates mothering through giving voice to motherhood–in all of its complexity, diversity, and humor–in the form of original readings performed live on-stage by their authors."
This season twelve of us will be on the main stage at the Atheneaum Theater on May 3rd to share our perspectives on motherhood. Those of you who personally know me may be a touch perplexed to how I'm going to do this seeing that I'm not a mother. Looks like all of you are going to have to come to the show to find out.
I rarely have a shortage of opinions. Why should I let a little thing like actual motherhood stand in the way of a good story?
I can only hope that my offering will be able to add to the richness of the tapestry of motherhood.
Now that I've piqued your interest in the show, you'd be a fool to not buy discounted early bird tickets (until 3/15) at this link right here. After 3/15 the cost rises by a modest amount, but in these cash strapped times the absence of a couple of bucks may be the difference in being able to get on the CTA or walking to your destination.
At the very least, watching me attempt to walk in heels should be worth the price of admission.
