Uninsured, Unemployed & Obamacare: Don't Lose Your ID or Password

After a few attempts, I finally setup an account on healthcare.gov.

Now I had to go back in and fill out an online application.  As we all know, that hasn't been the easiest thing to do.

Heavy traffic and technical problems have beset this roll out literally from day one so I gave it a few days to (hopefully) settle down before I tried again.

Now there was a new problem:  I forgot my ID and password.

D'oh!

Remembering passwords to all of your bank accounts, social media and email can be a bit overwhelming.  I wasn't looking forward to adding one more account to the mix.  I'm sure I wrote the information down somewhere---I just couldn't find it.

I'm sure I'm not the first person to forget my healthcare.gov password and I'm sure I won't be the last.

But be forewarned, if you lose or forget your ID and password, the transcript below is what you're going to go through:

I've followed the procedure to retrieve them/get them reset but haven't received an email from healthcare.gov yet.

That's the first thing I did when I didn't see the email in my inbox four days ago.

It could be we have a lot of visitors trying to use our website right now and its causing some glitches to occur with the system. If you try the process again give it about 2 hours. Have you completed the application?

The only thing I've managed to complete is creating an account.

Emmanuel, I understand there is heavy traffic and systems malfunctions, nonetheless I've been doing this for the past four days. Two hours isn't going to fix the problem.

...And this is coming from a registered Democrat, someone who voted for the President twice, is unemployed and is eager to see what possible benefits this new law can provide...

I truly expected more from an administration that's supposed to be tech savvy with a three year lead time.

So let's recap, if you lose your password you have to call a phone line that's always busy.

I expected more from our first technologically savvy presidential administration.

Odd---the President can always find a way to get those email blasts to me to ask for money but his crack IT team couldn't retrieve my ID & log in information in a timely manner.

Go figure.

After a few minutes of stewing, it turned out that the healthcare.gov did have one saving grace that helped me jog my memory.
