This south branch red line shutdown seems to be going well.
At least according to all of the media reports I've been reading.
I received an email from a reader in response to my red line shutdown tweets. Here's what he had to say:
@woodlawnwonder just now reading thru your tweets. CTA could have made repairs just as they did for Blue Line. They didn't shut that down.

My eyebrows immediately shot up.
I replied back:
@cooj999 Jim, when were these repairs made on the Blue Line? What year?

Eagled eyed @cooj999 sent me a link to a series of Tribune articles detailing the elimination of slow zones on the CTA blue line from the Addison Station to O'Hare.
Naturally, my interest was piqued, so I sat down and looked at the facts of both lines' slow zone elimination project. I wanted to compare apples to apples so to speak.
The results were quite interesting.
