Gardening Time In Jackson Park

Growing Power had the Jackson Park Community Garden orientation this past Saturday and gardeners old and new came out to get their plots.

The Growing Power staff had been hard at work preparing the garden's beds and walk ways, as well as transplanting strawberry plants into a community plot for all to harvest and enjoy.

I plan on turning my plot into a pico de gallo garden by growing tomatoes, red onions, cilantro and hot peppers.  If I have room, I'll throw in some bell peppers.

Planting won't happen for at least a month but I'm starting to gather the necessary equipment so I'll have everything ready for the season.

Let's keep our fingers crossed for good weather and that the garden thieves won't steal too much of my bounty.

After a brief hiatus last year, the farmer in the 'hood is back!
