As the Chicago Wolves enter their 20th season in 2013-14, the timing felt right to create this blog.

I began covering the team for the Chicago Tribune during the 2010 Calder Cup playoffs, and often I'm left with extra quotes or tidbits of information that didn't find their way into the stories I've filed. Some of that finds life via my Twitter account, but usually it ends up unused.

Now there is a home for those leftovers: Howlin' Wolves (which is not only a nod to the team's mascot, Skates, but a tribute to my love of blues music and this legend in particular).

This isn't just a dumping ground for items that couldn't make it into print, though. Oh no, my friends. There will also be exclusive Q&As with players, breaking news items, videos and whatever else I feel Wolves fans would enjoy.

I welcome your comments and suggestions, but please keep things civil. Feel free to email me at platour68@gmail.com if you'd like, as well.

So let's drop the puck on this thing and get it started.

It's a great day for hockey!
