No school today in observance of Martin Luther King Junior Day. My kids and I talked about how he helped change the world and ways we can continue to make a difference and stand up for ourselves.
"Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'"—Martin Luther King, Jr.
In the photo we were heading to the library* and then yoga. The bags are all filled with books to return and A is holding Captain Underpants, which D is now reading her. I asked D's teacher if I should be concerned about the subject matter of the books they are reading (i.e. underpants) and she assured me I should simply be happy that they are reading regardless of subject matter. Do you agree with her on that? I'm still unsure.
I like that the kids both have authentic smiles in this photo. No silliness, just happiness.
*We later learned the library was closed today in honor of Dr. King, although we were able to return our books.
