Week 34 of 52: Fun at Grandma and Grandpas

Week 34 of 52: Fun at Grandma and Grandpas
We are very lucky to have both set of grandparents within a three hour drive.  The kids learn, experience new adventures and feel very comfortable with me and my husband’s parents. Grandma and Grandpa and Bubby and Poppy buy the toys that Mom and Dad won’t.  As I said, we are very lucky. Please Like How... Read more »

Week 33 of 52: Breakfast at Starbucks

Week 33 of 52: Breakfast at Starbucks
It has been that kind of week.  The one where there is nothing nut-free to pack for lunch, so we head to Starbucks for coffee, breakfast and to buy lunch to put in the lunch boxes. This routine is nothing we want to get used to, but a fun treat on these especially busy weeks.... Read more »

Week 32 of 52: Theatre Camp

Week 32 of 52: Theatre Camp
This week began a two week theatre camp at The Royal George Theater.  The kids are working with Emerald City Theatre on a performance of Peter Pan and Wendy.  Sadly, the week did not start out as planned and both kids came down with strep and missed a day and a half of camp including auditions.... Week 31 of 52: Great America and Moving Forward

Week 31 of 52: Great America and Moving Forward

To be honest, it has... Read more »

Week 30 of 52: Complaining about Camp
The kids and I were not thrilled with the YMCA camp this summer.  There was a new director, less organization, the counselors seemed bored and they were outside a lot in the heat. I was happy to see D make friends and head in right away each day to hang out with a group of... Read more »

Week 29 of 52: Library Day

Week 29 of 52: Library Day
Monday is library day and our favorite day of the week. After we leave the library with more books than we can hold, the next few hours are filled with silence.  The kids and I delve into our newest finds and there are no arguments, fighting or asking for the iPad. It is lovely. Please... Read more »

Week 28 of 52: First Day of Camp

Week 28 of 52: First Day of Camp
The last day of school was June 20 and today is the first day of camp for the kids.  I enjoyed our travels and unscheduled time, but am also quite relieved to have time to work, clean and enjoy the quiet. The kids would be fine to never go to camp, but I am hoping... Read more »

Week 27 of 52: Tourists in our own city

Week 27 of 52: Tourists in our own city
I purposely didn’t schedule camp for this week so that the kids and I could take advantage of exploring Chicago.  Sadly, the weather didn’t feel like summer, but we bundled up and made the best of it. We hit the beach, farmer’s market, and did a lot of walking around our neighborhood stopping at local... Read more »
