That's right, Rahm is all about supporting local craft beer! In fact, he recently introduced an ordinance that would give Broad Shoulders Brewing up to $628,000 in tax increment financing to rehab their Motor Row district brewery at 2337 S. Michigan Ave. The $2.5 million project will turn the former Federal Motor Car Company showroom into an 8,800 sq. foot brewery and tasting room. The project would benefit the local economy as well as local craft beer lovers due to its economic impact. Emanuel's office says that the project would create four full-time jobs locally as well as 25 temporary positions.
Let's keep our fingers crossed for Frank Lassandrello, former Goose Island and Lakefront Brewery employee. He has been in the brewing business since 2004, but this is his first go on his own. I'm sure he will take all of the support he can get as he ventures into the world of brewery ownership. So do him a favor and help spread the word!
You will be able to find both of his year-round beers, an American Session Lager and an India Pale Lager, in 12 oz. cans and traditional six-packs. Beyond that, Lassandrello has plans for a Honey Weiss as his summer seasonal and a Rye Lager as his fall seasonal. So look for those accordingly.
