When I visited Clarendon Hills just over two years ago there were very few homes available in the under $300,000 price range, and what was available – even in the low $300s – was small and not in what everyone would consider move-in condition.
A quick scan of the current offerings surfaces a wider range of single-family home choices in the $350K and under price range, most featuring 2 or 3 bedrooms, 1 or 2 baths, some with recently upgraded kitchens and baths. Townhomes in good shape, with 3 bedrooms and 2 ½ baths, start in the $250s and appear to be relative bargains.
At the upper end of the lower-priced range is 330 Reserve Cir, a newer 3-bedroom, 2 ½ bath townhome with a two-story great room and a loft area overlooking it. The home has an attached 2-car garage and a full, unfinished basement. It's lingered on the market for more than 8 months and is currently priced at $357,000.
Clarendon Hills' main appeals include its proximity to major transportation corridors, its small-town feel and, of course, a school system with Hinsdale Central High School as its main draw. You'll get a mini-tour of the community and a walk through a home then priced in the low $300s in the above video, shot in April of 2010.
