Live on the cheap in an elevated Oak Park condo

Condo values have collapsed in a number of Chicago's suburbs, especially at the lower end of the market, and Oak Park appears to be no exception.

You can even find sub-$50K offerings in well-located buildings in downtown Oak Park.

A 1-bedroom unit at 938 North Blvd has been on and off the market for over 5 years and is currently offered at $48,000. According to the listing it has a newer kitchen and bath. Unit 305 in the building, which is just a block from the train station in downtown Oak Park, is under contract at an asking price of $34,500.

Both of the listings describe the building as "elevated," but it's safe to assume that it sits firmly on the ground and has elevator access to the units.
