Revitalizing downtown Hinsdale

Historic downtown Hinsdale, Illinois

Downtown Hinsdale, the village's central business district, is on the National Register of Historic Places. The historic designation has helped maintain the human scale and small town look of the buildings, but hasn't much hindered downtown's economic transformation.

Downtown retail was in sorry shape in the early 80s, a time when a partnership of mine owned storefronts on First Street. Upscale shops have proliferated since that time, but apparently not enough to satisfy village officials.

The Hinsdale - Clarendon Hills Patch carries this report on the village's efforts to draw new retail businesses to downtown.
