Tour week – driving the CAGE in Wilmette

While I'm away on vacation this week, I'm dipping into the archives to show you around parts of the North Shore suburbs we haven't visited in a while.

Wilmette's historic CAGE neighborhood takes its name from four streets: Chestnut, Ashland, Greenwood and Elmwood.

The CAGE has stately old homes, broad brick streets with deep setbacks, beautiful old street lights, lush landscaping and a dense tree canopy. Most of the homes were built between the 1890s and 1930s, although there's an occasional newer home.

As you might expect, the CAGE is one of the most expensive neighborhoods in Wilmette.

Our tour begins, above, with Chestnut Avenue, and proceeds in individual videos along Ashland, Greenwood and Elmwood.
