Is there a beach at that North Shore lakefront home?

If you're unfamiliar with North Shore lakefront property you might think the headline question is nonsensical. It's not.

It's quite common for lakefront homes on the North Shore to have no sandy beach and a steep path down to the water from bluffs that abut the lake. Tableland, i.e. flat areas, can also be scarce in some waterfront areas of the North Shore.

The home at 191 Sheridan Rd in Winnetka is billed in its listing copy as "lakefront living at its finest" and priced accordingly at $7,995,000. The home is clearly special, but does have some drawbacks – the lack of a sandy beach being one of them, as you can see from the aerial image above.

Only four of the five bedrooms are above grade, two on the first level and two on the second. That's a configuration that some families might find unappealing.

The underground parking – you can see the approach in the above aerial – is an unusual feature.
