I paused for a moment, wondering what other direction one might live in, before taking a look at the online brochure (PDF) for 887 Spruce St in Winnetka.
The brochure pictures a traditional-style home "right-sized for the new economy …. Featuring quality over quantity and character over volume …. inspirational architectural impeccable affordable walkable livable manageable beautiful sustainable comfortable desirable."
The 4-bedroom, 4 ½ bath home is priced at $1,350,000, and will have a free-standing 2-car garage on its 45 x 187 lot. It's located steps from downtown Winnetka and within easy walking distance of the Elm Street Metra station.
I haven't been able to find a demolition permit for the existing home on the site, and the listing doesn't include an estimated completion date.
