It's a landlord's market on the North Shore as rental inventory shrinks further

1211 Crofton Ave, Highland Park IL

The number of MLS-listed rental homes and condos in Chicago's North Shore communities fell to yet another new low this week, with only 230 units available, down from 254 one week ago.

Forty-three new rentals were listed last week and remain on the market. This, together with the inventory reduction, reflects a very rapid rate of absorption for homes coming on the market.

One that seems likely to rent quickly is the newly-listed 3-bedroom, 3 ½ bath split-level ranch at 1211 Crofton Ave in Highland Park's Bob-O-Link subdivision.

The rent is listed at $2,495 a month. The home is within walking distance of downtown Highland Park, schools and the Metra station. The listing describes the 147 x 243 lot as "lushly landscaped."

According to BlockShopper, the home last sold for $1,250,000 in October of 2006, and 2007 property taxes were in excess of $15,000. The $2,495 rent makes little apparent sense for the owner in light of those numbers.

Coldwell Banker's Sonia Munwes Cohen has the listing.
