Last fall I had the pleasure of meeting Winthrop Properties principals Bob Horner and Ibrahim Shihadeh and FitzGerald Associates Architects principal Michael DeRouin during a tour of their newly completed high-rise, The Winthrop Club. At the outset of our tour (seen above), the trio talked about the challenges of putting together a high-rise condo project in Evanston, and the changes the tower went through from original concept to completion. Near the end, we talked about what the present and future hold for green buildings like the Winthrop Club.
The Winthrop Club is a 15-story, 96-unit building located at 1570 Elmwood Dr. When I shot this footage, the building had just started delivering and was about 30 percent sold, with available one- to three-bedrooms ranging in price from the $290s to $1.48 million. The three developer units currently listed in the building are a 1,135 square-foot two-bedroom priced at $425,000, a 1,349 square-foot two-bedroom priced at $497,000, and a 2,874 square-foot three-bedroom priced at $1.26 million.
