I reached out to local correspondent Maureen Mohling this afternoon for an update on the Winnetka / Northfield market. Maureen reports that the inventory of available homes is shrinking in an unexpected manner.
"I'm seeing more sellers taking their homes off the market," said Maureen. "They're not willing to accept the price adjustment necessary to sell in this market, and they have the financial ability to wait for a market recovery."
If you'd like to meet Maureen in person, she'll be hosting an open house from 2 to 4 on Sunday, July 11, at 422 Fox Meadow Dr in Northfield. The home features over 2,400 square feet of living space, 3 bedrooms and 2 ½ baths. The asking price has just been reduced from $865,000 to $820,000.
Fox Meadow is an Edward R. James development, completed in 2002. The landscaping has grown even lusher since I shot the above photo over two years ago. It's located adjacent to a park and nature conservancy and affords easy access to The Glen, the Edens Expressway and the Tri-State It's also directly across Willow from Kraft's corporate headquarters and close to a number of major area employers.
If you can't make the 2 to 4 slot on Sunday, or if you're looking for a larger home in Northfield, Maureen will be at 775 Sunset Ridge Rd from 11 to 1:30. You can see a video tour of that home in this post.
