Adios 2017: You Won't Be Missed

Adios 2017: You Won't Be Missed
We’re winding down on 2017. Two days left before we get a new year. We get a fresh start. THANK GOD!!! Let’s face it, 2017 sucked. To say it was stressful would be an understatement. Describing most of the stress and suckage would take only two words. DONALD TRUMP!!! When he was elected in November... Read more »

Musicians who died in 2017

Mel Tillis overcame a problem with stuttering to become one of country musics greats.
We lost a lot of musical legends in 2017. As the greats from the classic rock era start to hit their 70’s and older, it’s sad but not surprising that they’re dying off. Here’s a gallery of photos and music from those who passed on this year:   Related Post: 2016 The year of musical... Read more »

Gary Clark Jr. at Chicago Blues Fest.
One of the best of the newer generation of guitarists.
On a Facebook music site, someone posed a question asking what was the best concert you saw this year? I saw about 20 shows this year. A few were memorable while others were a waste of time and money. These were the best I saw this year: Related Post: Stevie Nicks and the circle of... Read more »

Christmas: A day of hope instead of hopelessness

Christmas: A day of hope instead of hopelessness
“We could be depressed at Christmas, but what’s the point? We’re all going to be together. We’re all family.” Those were the word I heard a year ago. What’s surprising was the place they were spoken. A homeless shelter. It occurred during a weekly writing class I was teaching there. I know how tough the... Read more »

For Christmas Eve: Give Me Love, Give Me Peace On Earth

For Christmas Eve: Give Me Love, Give Me Peace On Earth
It’s Christmas Eve. One day to go until the big holiday. CHRISTMAS: A day of giving and receiving presents. How’s your shopping going? I was just at Best Buy looking for deals. There were more employees than customers. I take that as a good sign. CHRISTMAS: A day of solemn religion. Jesus’ birthday. CHRISTMAS: A... Read more »

Did you keep your resolutions in 2017?

Did you keep your resolutions in 2017?
We’re down to the last ten days of 2017. It’s that time where we reflect on the past year and look forward to the new upcoming one. Everyone makes resolutions. You may not write them down but in your head you have some ideas about what you want to accomplish during the year. I made... Read more »

Foo Fighters SNL medley is the greatest rock Christmas song of all-time

Foo Fighters SNL medley is the greatest rock Christmas song of all-time
I hate Christmas music. It’s not a bah humbug the season sucks kind of thing; I just think most of it is inane and a waste of whatever medium it’s on. Rock musicians should do what they do best and for almost all of them….no….for every single one of them, it isn’t Christmas songs. For... Read more »

To Doug Jones and the people of Alabama: Thank you

To Doug Jones and the people of Alabama: Thank you
2017 has been a bad year in the United States of America. Actually it goes back a little further…to November 8. 2016. It seems there has been a Breaking News moment every day. We reached a new low yesterday. Our sitting president slut-shamed a sitting United States Senator. He basically called her a whore. Hopefully that’s... Read more »

The irony of today's Sarah Huckabee Sanders press briefing

The irony of today's Sarah Huckabee Sanders press briefing
Do you ever watch Sarah Sanders daily press briefing? If you don’t, you should. Turn on any cable news channel at around 1pm Central time. It’s thirty minutes of pure entertainment. If you can get past all the lying, it’s must see tv. I admit she has a tough gig. It’s her job to represent... Read more »

My so called friends think it's time to edit this section. After four years, they may be right, but don't tell them that. I'll deny it until they die! I can't believe I've been writing this blog for four years. It started as a health/wellness thing and over the years has morphed to include so many things that I don't know how to describe it anymore. I really thought this was going to be the final year of the blog but then Donald Trump came along. It looks like we're good for four more years..God help us all! Oh yeah...the biographical stuff. I'm not 60 anymore. The rest you can read about in the blog.
