Valentine's Day: A day of romance and cancer

Valentine's Day: A day of romance and cancer
February 14th. Valentine’s Day. Which of these words doesn’t fit with the holiday…romance, hearts, candy, flowers and cancer. The obvious one is the last word…unless you’re asking me. It was Valentine’s Day 2015…just three years ago. I walked out of a shower and caught a peek of a new mole on my upper back. I had... Read more »

Surviving a Cancerversary

Surviving a Cancerversary
The National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship defines being a survivor as anyone diagnosed with cancer, from the time of their diagnosis until the date of their death. I wish it was that easy. According to the NCCS, today is my two year anniversary of being a survivor. The only reason I remember the exact date is... Read more »

Melanoma: Not An Ordinary Skin Cancer

This is a photo I took with my daughter Amy last February. I looked at it and my first thought was how pale I was looking. It led to photo number 2.
My friend and fellow blogger Donna Moncivaiz died last Friday. Melanoma. She was also one of my mentors with great advice and compassion when I was diagnosed with Melanoma last Spring. Donna’s funeral and the celebration of her life will be this afternoon…on what would be her 54th birthday. Dying at 53 should be a... Read more »

My so called friends think it's time to edit this section. After four years, they may be right, but don't tell them that. I'll deny it until they die! I can't believe I've been writing this blog for four years. It started as a health/wellness thing and over the years has morphed to include so many things that I don't know how to describe it anymore. I really thought this was going to be the final year of the blog but then Donald Trump came along. It looks like we're good for four more years..God help us all! Oh yeah...the biographical stuff. I'm not 60 anymore. The rest you can read about in the blog.
