It was March 11, 2016. Donald Trump was running for President of the United States. He scheduled a rally on the campus of The University of Illinois-Chicago. Thousands of protesters lined the streets surrounding the arena. Thousands more were inside waiting to hear him speak.
Donald Trump got scared. He ran off like a coward. Trump left his supporters hanging.
It's more than three years later. Trump makes his first visit to Chicago as President. He first spoke to a group of police chiefs at McCormick Place. That speech was boycotted by Chicago's police superintendent Eddie Johnson.
Then came the main event. A fundraiser at Trump Tower, hosted by Chicago Cubs co-owner Todd Ricketts. This event was expected to put millions of dollars into the Trump re-election coffers. Apparently Trump will go anywhere for money....even a city he hates and regularly denigrates, like Chicago.
Don was met by thousands of protesters. While not nearly as many people as the 2016 rally, this group became loud and let their feelings known. The signs at the rally said it all.
