I’m so sorry to all our fans in America & Canada with tickets. I really hate letting you down like this. I’m devastated for having to postpone the tour but I will be working very hard to be back on stage as soon as I can. Once again, huge apologies to everyone.
The Rolling Stones were supposed to start their tour of North America next month. The keyword there is supposed because the tour has been postponed due to illness of a band member. The big surprise is that band member is MICK JAGGER! Really? Mick is the last one your would expect, right?
If you hear a member of the Stones is ill, your first thought is Keith or maybe, Ronnie Wood..and that's just a maybe. But, Mick? NEVER! Mick is invincible. Mick is going to live, play music and make new children forever!
He was going to outlive Keith, wasn't he? Now, I'm not as positive about that.
I don't know why I was so surprised to read this on Saturday. Jagger is now seventy-five years old. The big surprise shouldn't be that he has a health issue. The real surprise is he's still touring at this age. So many of his contemporaries have either died or retired at that age. We're just spoiled, and somewhat selfish, to expect Mick and his band (and yes the Stones are still his band) to keep on going. We just want to start him up and have him never stop...never ever, ever stop. But we may now just realize that we can't always get what we want.
The tour is going to rescheduled, so hold on to your tickets. But you just never know, right? Could it have been that their last tour was the last time? Maybe the last time? Hmm...I don't know.
Get well soon, Mick. We aren't ready to miss you yet.
