Aretha Franklin and her most memorable moments

Hey Nineteen
That's 'Retha Franklin
She don't remember
The Queen of Soul

The above lyrics are from Steely Dan's classic song "Hey 19." The guy is involved with a younger woman and wondering what they have on common. She doesn't even know Aretha.

That's something my generation and the next and the next didn't think about. We knew Aretha. We loved the Queen of Soul. There was never any question of who deserved that title. She was the one! She was the only one!

Aretha Franklin had a big sound. She also had a big life. She was called and had a reputation as a Diva. Much of it was deserved. But when you heard her sing, you forgot all about that reputation. You were engrossed in the songs and her voice. You knew you were watching something special.

I've picked out four moments. These are four performances that I'll always think of when I remember Aretha Franklin:

Rest easy, Aretha. We'll always remember the Queen of Soul.

My so called friends think it's time to edit this section. After four years, they may be right, but don't tell them that. I'll deny it until they die! I can't believe I've been writing this blog for four years. It started as a health/wellness thing and over the years has morphed to include so many things that I don't know how to describe it anymore. I really thought this was going to be the final year of the blog but then Donald Trump came along. It looks like we're good for four more years..God help us all! Oh yeah...the biographical stuff. I'm not 60 anymore. The rest you can read about in the blog.
