Last week I was wasting time perusing one of my dating sites. It's one of those that ask a bunch of questions. Then they score them and you see how you match up with other potential daters. I'm looking at a woman who is new to the site. We get to this question, "I spend a lot of time thinking about?"
Her answer..."What a great job Donald Trump is going to do!"
You don't often see that on any of the dating sites...at least not the ones I go to. At first, I thought there might be some sarcasm so I did a little digging. Another question comes right out and asks about your political affiliation. Her answer was "Conservative/right wing."
Okay, I guess she's serious about Trump. Fine, no problem with me but would I want to be in a relationship with her? Would I even want to date her? I decided no. I have enough issues with relationships without adding that into the equation. I'm not as evolved as James Carville and Mary Matalin. NEXT!!!
What's not surprising is that she's out on her own island with this...and it's pretty much deserted. For every Trump supporter, I can find ten that make statements like this up front in their profile:
"If you are a Trump person, then we have absolutely nothing in common so please just go away." and then there's my favorite..."If you voted for Trump, or even thought of voting for Trump, don't contact me."
All righty then. You'd think those would be my kind of women, but to be honest, I'm probably not going to contact them after that. I try to keep my political life and social life separate, although these days, it's hard if not impossible to do.
So what do you do if you meet someone and you like everything about them except their politics...and this goes no matter where you fall on the political spectrum? Man, just another obstacle in the way of love and romance.
