Welcome back my friends
to the show that never ends.
We're so glad you can attend
Come inside, come inside.
Today's the day. The Donald is coming to Chicago. As Johnny Carson used to say, "Weird, wild stuff."
The Illinois primary is next Tuesday so all the candidates have been in the Chicago area. Hillary and her husband Bill have been in the northern burbs. Kasich, Cruz and Bernie have been here, too. But the main event is today.
Live from the Pavilion, on the University of Illinois-Chicago campus...walking into the ring, errrr, the stage is Donald Trump. He's accompanied by his cornermen/managers Chris Christie and Ben Carson. It really does have the feel of a WWE event. All that's needed is Vince McMahon and a cage.
Here's how strange this event is:
a. I can't count the amount of times I've been told to be careful. I've acquired a lot of new mothers.
b. I'm getting advice on how to keep out of jail.
c. There's talk of costumes to keep our identities secret. I'm going as Clark Kent. It's a good character. After all, I do write for a great metropolitan blog site. In case of trouble, I whip off the black framed glasses and turn into Superman. All good!
d. Finally, we have a safe phrase. If someone feels uncomfortable about anything, we can say this phrase and off we go. Wow! A political rally has turned into "Fifty Shades of Grey". Apparently just leaning over and saying "I'm scared. Let's get the fuck out of here" isn't good enough.(Shaking my head)
All this is understandable. You've seen the news. There's a chance for trouble inside and outside the arena. It's one of those better safe than sorry things. You know you're probably better off watching it on tv but it's like a car accident on the highway...you just can't stop yourself from looking.
Nothing like this has ever been seen in the political venue. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity. Sometimes you just have to leave your comfort zone and get out there. This is one of those sometimes.
Now for those of you who are really worried, I promise to be careful. I'll even check in with a report of the shitstorm on Saturday. But just in case things go bad, the phone number for Cook County Jail is 773-674-7100.

Here's the Trump piece I wrote the other day. See...I'm not scared of Donald.
