The week in Cancer

The numbers are set for 2016. The American Cancer Society estimates 1,685,210 new cases of Cancer will be diagnosed this year. Almost 600,000 are expected to die of Cancer.

Let's do the math...Every day this year 4,604 people will walk into their doctor's office and walk out with a diagnosed case of Cancer!

Shocking when you break it down, isn't it.

The deaths and diagnoses this week were exceptionally sad and shocking. What's even more sad and shocking is the year is just starting and we'll have a lot more of this to come.

Here's a look at the faces of Cancer for this last week.

Cancer doesn't discriminate. ChicagoNow lost one our writers to Brain Cancer just a couple of weeks ago. Here's Jan Marino's final blog post from last July.

My so called friends think it's time to edit this section. After four years, they may be right, but don't tell them that. I'll deny it until they die! I can't believe I've been writing this blog for four years. It started as a health/wellness thing and over the years has morphed to include so many things that I don't know how to describe it anymore. I really thought this was going to be the final year of the blog but then Donald Trump came along. It looks like we're good for four more years..God help us all! Oh yeah...the biographical stuff. I'm not 60 anymore. The rest you can read about in the blog.
