Make that baby food, mama!

Some time between four and six months, babies start eating food. Why on earth this was so exciting with my first child is a mystery to me. I used to get all pumped up, mash up my organic produce and treat the whole thing like a holy ritual. Even my flying airplane spoons were an experiment in performance art. High holy baby! But Second Child Syndrome has me all, "now I have to cook for more people?"

I'm trying to get excited about this again, so the timing couldn't be better for my peeps at the Bump Club And Beyond's "Baby Food Made Easy" classes. Each weekly session features special guest natural foods chef and nutrition counselor Amanda Skrip and curriculum input from Denise Henderson, President of Square One Organics. Plus we mamas get treats. Word.

You could go ghetto and do like I did last time (mash whatever you're eating with a fork, serve in a chalice, repeat) or you could be a fancy drawers like 2011 me and take a class. Come on! Overcompensate with me!

Here is the schedule:

Babies 4-8 Months: Tuesday, July 19 at 7:00 pm at Whole Foods Lincoln Park

Babies 8-12 Months: Wednesday, July 20 at 7:00 pm at Whole Foods South Loop

And for your enjoyment, here is Bianca eating one of her first meals in 2009. It's a thriller!

Looks like she loved it!!! Too funny!

  • Haha! You know, it was way less exciting this time, yes, but I still documented the heck out of that first moment. We're moving on to avocados next. 'Cause you care, I know.

I can't believe Bee was ever that small! Love that little gal.
