Human Experiment: Labor cookies!

My friend Nicole pointed me in the direction of a recipe for labor cookies. Hey, why not, right? Maybe I go into labor, and if not I get to eat a bunch of cookies. I modified the original recipe (of course) to double the spices. Labor vibes times TWO!

Here's my version:

2 1/2 cup flour

1 1/2 t. baking soda
1.5 t. cinnamon
2 t. ground ginger
1 t. ground cloves
1/2 t. salt
1 t. cayenne pepper
8 T. butter (that's one stick!)
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1/3 c. molasses
1/4 c. egg whites
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine flour, baking soda and spices and set aside. Cream the butter and sugars together. Add the molasses to the creamed butter, then add the egg whites until combined. Add the dry ingredients slowly. Once incorporated, roll dough into 1 inch pancakes and place onto baking tray. Bake 8-10 minutes.
I made a batch, ate three and let's see what happens. I'm not due for two weeks, so this could be a waste of time and a great opportunity for heart burn.
I'll update the second anything happens! (Which could be closer to March.)

Mmmm, get out of my belly!

UPDATE 5:37 PM - Toddlers do not like cayenne pepper in their cookies.
UPDATE 8:23 PM - Um, who would want to go into labor before a blizzard? That was stoopid. Oh well, so far nothing is going on anyway. Time for a snooze!

  • LOL - toddlers don't like cayenne pepper in their cookies, huh? Who'd-a thunk it? :)

  • Gee, who woulda thunk about toddlers not liking cayenne cookies. :-) Great recipe though, I've never heard of it before.
