Puff paints! Glitter glue! Down with the man!
I'm breaking out all my fine craft supplies because I have not one but TWO protests Wednesday. If you are so inclined, join me. I'll be the blond who has no business in jeggings, swingin' a baby on my hip.
1. 9:00 AM at James R. Thompson Center, 100 W. Randolph Street here in good ole Chicago.
The Illinois school funding crisis has reached a critical point - CPS schools may be losing magnet cluster funding (staff positions), full-day kindergarten, pre-school and more. It is time to bring our outrage, and our voice for change, to those who need to hear it most.
This Wednesday, April 21st, parents and students from many area schools will meet downtown to rally on Report Card Pick Up Day and give the state an "F" for school funding. The rally will be held from 9-10:30 am (there is no school that day).
Media have been invited and we need a large turnout of children and parents, waving signs, banners and making ourselves heard.
Come to the Rally - Bring Kids! Friends! Neighbors! Forward this announcement on to anyone interested in a healthy future for our state and city! Avoid traffic and parking by taking CTA - there is a station located right at the State of Illinois building. Rally starts at 9 and ends by 10:30, allowing plenty of time to get to school parent/teacher conferences that day.
2. 7:00 PM, there is a meeting at St. Gregory's gym at 1677 West Bryn Mawr Avenue to raise the voice of the people! What are we saying? Oh, that abandoned old hospital down the street should become a park. Flowers. Jungle gyms. Sign the petition here.
Fun facts: Hilary Clinton was born at that hospital and it was shut down for medical fraud in 2001.
