Tips on an Exercise Plan

It’s never too late to start getting more active. That’s true even if you’ve never exercised before. If you are in good health with no injuries or conditions that could affect you when you when you’re active, you can start an exercise program.

If you are just starting, make sure to ease into it and progress slowly. If you have a health condition, talk to your doctor. This way you can make sure it is okay for you to start an exercise program.

Next, it is a good idea to meet with a certified personal trainer or other fitness professional. They can help make a plan that is right for you. They can also tell you how to work out correctly. This can lower your risk for injury.

Your balanced exercise program may have:

• Cardio training
• Resistance exercises with free weights, machines, resistance bands, or your body weight
• Flexibility or stretching
• Balance work, like yoga or tai chi
• Core training to make your trunk muscles strong

If you want to get started on your own instead, you can. Walking is a great way to start. Try to walk at a fast pace for 10 minutes each day and increase your time by 5 minutes each session.
