Training camp ended with a glimmer of hope for the Blackhawks Monday morning. The defense barraged the net with mostly accurate shots from the point. Johnny Oduya seemed to have the most flawless shot, with Duncan Keith in a class second. Stalberg was even in front of the net getting some tip drill reps around the same time...
Translation... The powerplay is heading in the right direction early. Q and the rest of the coaching staff are looking for solutions to their biggest problem the last few years sooner rather than later. Q Stache also told reporters today that Stalberg will indeed get some opportunities on the power play.
Other hopeful signs of things to come include: a far improved stick-handling and puck-shooting Daniel Carcillo (who's ready to make up for lost time), the same Speedy Gonzales AKA Viktor Stalberg, a bigger Marcus Kruger, a hungry Dave Bolland (getting the 2nd Center opportunity), a pre-heated from Swedish league Patrick Kane, a healthy Marian Hossa, and a goalie who knows he has to have a great season or be chased out of Chicago. Sometimes having everything to lose can bring out your best.
There are certainly many ingredients for a fantastic season.
