I came across a cool article on the Trib website about these "Layaway Santas" as they are calling them.
In various locations such as Indianapolis, Omaha, Chicago, and more, there have been random people paying the balances (or at least a majority) of their layaway lists for complete strangers.
There are some cases, such as in Indianapolis, where one lady in her husband's memory, paid for as many as 50 people and was handing out $50 bills to people.
She stated "...she said she wasn't going to be able to spend it and wanted to make people happy with it".
How amazing is that in this day and economy?
It warms my normally luke warm heart to know that some more fortunate people are out there helping the less fortunate.
It doesn't happen much, but the few times it does, it gives me hope for ourselves as a humanity.
As much as I'd love to say that I could go out and start doing that, I'm sure I'd get all psyched up to do so and chicken out, but who of the 99.9% of us out there wouldn't?
Happy Holiday's and good luck to all that still have to brave the stores this weekend!
